Assistant Accountant

Main Duties

• Monitoring cashflow on a frequent basis; Bank reconciliation; Direct debit collections; Maintaining staff and business expenses; Managing PAYE; Raising supplier payments; Monitoring expenditure; Handling general queries from staff, suppliers and customers

• Review, investigate and interpret unusual results and balances; Assess financial controls and persuade management and reluctant colleagues to adopt possibly unpopular solutions; Prepare audit documentation and liaise with external auditors where necessary

• Opportunity to progress to company accountant status

Your qualifications

• Working towards a professional accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACA/ACCA); Extensive experience of Microsoft Excel; Prior experience in a growing SME is desired; Experience of Sage Line 50 or other accountancy package; Have a strong character and excellent people management skills; Self-motivated with common sense, a mature attitude and a drive to succeed; Have drive/determination to seize understanding of complex, business-driven billing procedures; Excellent analytical skills; Must have a drivers licence and access to a car for occasional travel
